Recap: John Marshall Monarchs vs. Steubenville Big Red

The John Marshall Monarchs came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 64-60 W over Steubenville. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Despite the loss, Steubenville saw an underclassman step up: Nylah Mcshan dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Mcshan's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bailee Beall, who scored nine points.

John Marshall pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Steubenville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing University the next time they take the court. John Marshall will head out to face University at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Steubenville will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
