Baseball Recap: Hancock Takes a Loss

Hancock lost against George County back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 9-8. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ayden Howard was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chace Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Hancock: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-12 otherwise. Landon Sheilds was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hancock now has a losing record of 12-13. As for George County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.

While Hancock had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
