Softball Game Preview: Osceola Kowboys vs. Winter Springs Bears

The Osceola Kowboys will challenge the Winter Springs Bears at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Osceola managed to slip by Coral Reef the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Kowboys came up short against the Barracudas on Wednesday, falling 7-1. The match marked the Kowboys' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Osceola saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samanthalea Edwards, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, while it was Winter Springs who put the first points on the board on Tuesday, it was Cornerstone Charter Academy who put up more. The Bears fell 5-2 to the Ducks. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lilly Clark was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Osceola moved to 9-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Winter Springs, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 9-4.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Osceola hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Winter Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Osceola might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Winter Springs in their previous matchup back in April of 2016. Can the Kowboys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
