Basketball Game Preview: Reeves Raiders vs. Sacred Heart Trojans

The Reeves Raiders will square off against the Sacred Heart Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Reeves' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Reeves saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Huntington. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 161st in Louisiana, while the Red Devils are ranked 1089th in Texas).

Reeves' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carter Guillory, who posted 21 points and five rebounds, and Christian Williams, who had 13 points and eight assists. Guillory's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hakeem Jenkins, who put up six points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Reeves smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart came up short against Oak Hill on December 12th, falling 47-23. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Sacred Heart's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Reeves, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Reeves, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to Sacred Heart in their previous meeting back in January.
