Football Recap: Spiro Comes Up Short

Spiro lost against Pocola back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs were outmatched by the Indians and fell 72-12. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-0.

Although Spiro took the loss, they still got scores from Joshua Collins and Hayden Reed.

Pocola was led to victory by Jaryus Birdsong and Jaseir Posey. Birdsong gained 108 total yards and three touchdowns, while Posey threw for 216 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Birdsong showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 68 yards.

Spiro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pocola, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spiro will square off against Muldrow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pocola, they will face off against Vian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
