Preview: Valley View Cougars vs. Dallas Mountaineers
Valley View has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Dallas Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Valley View got themselves on the board against Wyoming Area, but Wyoming Area never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 20-0 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Valley View just coasted through the last quarter.
Camryn Higgins and Dom Memo were among the main playmakers for Valley View as the former rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Dallas put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Greater Nanticoke Area 48-22. Given Dallas' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Greater Nanticoke Area is ranked 317th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dylan Geskey went supernova for Dallas, rushing for 185 yards and five touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Hunter Pitcavage, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Valley View's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Dallas, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Valley View strolled past Dallas in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley View since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
