Baseball Recap: Interboro Takes a Loss

Interboro dropped their record down to 9-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Chichester Eagles, falling 9-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-1 defeat back in April.

Interboro saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mike McLaughlin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Chichester, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Chichester's side, Gavin Derrickson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Derrickson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Cole Sanford and Logan Werley did most of the damage at the plate: Sanford went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Werley went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Werley has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alex Kester, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Interboro will welcome Academy Park at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chichester, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Holy Ghost Prep at 4:00 p.m.
