Catalina Foothills waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They put the hurt on the Buena Colts with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Catalina Foothills won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-23.

Jacob Martinez paced Catalina Foothills' offense, picking up 12 kills. Martinez got some help from Kyle Senkerik and his 34 assists. Finally, Thomas Vamos kept Catalina Foothills' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Despite the loss, Buena saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josiah Canales had 16 digs and two aces. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Canales.

Catalina Foothills pushed their record up to 23-10 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Buena, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Catalina Foothills wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Cienega on the 25th. As for Buena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Flowing Wells on the 25th.
