Chaparral is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Highlands Ranch is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wolverines will welcome the Falcons at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither Chaparral nor Highlands Ranch posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Friday, Chaparral didn't have quite enough to beat Regis Jesuit and fell 2-1. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Beckett Bacon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Chaparral is 7-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Chaparral saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryne Dodson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Highlands Ranch's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Vista on Friday.

Highlands Ranch now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chaparral has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Highlands Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts.
