Terry Sanford might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Cape Fear who claimed the real prize. The Bulldogs lost to the Colts on the road by a 50-35 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 31-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Moore, who threw for 210 yards and two TDs on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one score on only nine carries. Terry Sanford also got a significant boost from Sebastian O'Keefe, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.

Even if they lost, Terry Sanford's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Justice Clifton refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Cape Fear's side was Clifton, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Tai Phillips continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cape Fear, rushing for 302 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, Phillips is now up to 10 rushing touchdowns on the season. Geronimo Sanchez also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.

Terry Sanford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Cape Fear, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.
