Recap: Chiefland Indians vs. St. John Lutheran Saints
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dunnellon, the Chiefland Indians were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down St. John Lutheran 55-39. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Chiefland's 24-point performance the contest before.
Chiefland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryleigh Locke out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. Laila Ingram was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 steals.
When it comes to explaining why St. John Lutheran lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kayla joy Bowen. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keiera (KeKe) Mendoza, who scored 8 points.
The victory got Chiefland back to even at 1-1. As for St. John Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiefland will challenge Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. John Lutheran, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
