Basketball Recap: Madonna Comes Up Short

Madonna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Valley Lumberjacks 85-53. The Blue Dons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lumberjacks earlier this season, when they won 77-76.

Connor Carte and Reno Fuscardo certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Carte went 9-for-13 on his way to 20 points, while Fuscardo dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Fuscardo a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo DoBraska, who posted eight points.

Madonna's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Madonna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-48 loss against Edison on the 8th. As for Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-56 defeat against Frontier on the 13th.
