On Wednesday, Volcano Vista faced Hobbs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Volcano Vista Hawks had to suffer through a 67-37 loss at the hands of the Hobbs Eagles. The game marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Volcano Vista's defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3. As for Hobbs, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.
