Basketball Recap: Somonauk/Leland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Somonauk/Leland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 45-35 to the Streator Bulldogs. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Ava Gwaltney had a dynamite game for Streator, putting up 27 points and seven boards. Those 27 points gave Gwaltney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Krohe, who posted five points and ten rebounds.

Somonauk/Leland's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-16. As for Streator, their victory ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-24.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somonauk/Leland will face off against Illinois Math & Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Somonauk/Leland is facing Illinois Math & Science Academy at the right time seeing as Illinois Math & Science Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Streator, they will challenge Manteno at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Manteno will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Streator surely won't give up without a fight.
