Oxnard came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Ventura Cougars by a score of 9-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Tuesday.

Destinee Herrera made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Alexis Haros was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Rachel Godoy was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Oxnard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.

Oxnard pushed their record up to 14-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Ventura, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxnard will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dos Pueblos at 3:30 p.m. on the 21st. As for Ventura, they will square off against Grace at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
