Basketball Recap: Smithville Comes Up Short

Smithville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the West Union Eagles, falling 71-34. While losing is never fun, the Seminoles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Eagles are ranked 58th).

Smithville's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for West Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Houlka the next time they take the court. West Union will head out to face Houlka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Smithville will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
