Recap: Burbank Bulldogs vs. Veterans Memorial Patriots
The Burbank Bulldogs and the Veterans Memorial Patriots squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Burbank Bulldogs had to settle for second. Burbank was dealt a 56-0 defeat at the hands of Veterans Memorial. Burbank's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Roman Garcia threw for 55 yards on five of 18 attempts. On the ground, Johnny Alvarado rushed for 45 yards.
James Peoples was a one-man wrecking crew for Veterans Memorial as he rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Peoples was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Veterans Memorial also got help from Ben Toney who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.
Burbank's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Veterans Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Burbank does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Veterans Memorial will take on Flour Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Flour Bluff is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
