Football Recap: Ballston Spa Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Ballston Spa's offense. They took a blow against the Cornwall Central Dragons on Friday, falling 29-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Scotties were not able to get on the board.

Danny Twomey was nothing short of spectacular for Cornwall Central: he rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 129 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Twomey a new career-high in passer rating (151.1). Jordan Bishop helped out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Ballston Spa now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cornwall Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Ballston Spa will challenge Mohonasen on Friday. The Scotties will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cornwall Central, they will square off against Beacon at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 12.8 points per game this season, so the Dragons' offense will have their work cut out for them.
