Baseball Recap: Alleghany Starts Season with Victory Against Bishop Mcguinness

Alleghany had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bishop McGuinness Villains on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

William Billings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Billings was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Damon Davis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. John Lemasters was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Alleghany didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-0 defeat against Surry Central on the 28th. As for Bishop McGuinness, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-1 loss against Thomasville on the 28th.
