Softball Recap: Ingomar Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Ingomar came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Water Valley Blue Devils by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 24-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 24-1 win last Thursday.

Cadie Jo Byrd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Byrd was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Carys Ball was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Maggie Dodd was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Ingomar pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.3 runs over those games. As for Water Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-14.

Ingomar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Water Valley, they will challenge Vardaman at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
