Basketball Recap: The Academy Skates Past Denver Christian with Ease

The Academy's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They breezed past the Denver Christian Thunder to the tune of 74-45. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Trey Boychuk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9-for-14 on his way to 21 points in addition to six steals and five assists. That's the most steals he has posted since back in February of 2024. Preston Howe also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: The Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They racked up 13 more assists than Denver Christian's also-impressive total of 11.

Despite the loss, Denver Christian still got an impressive performance from Kaden Moore, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds. Moore has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zeke Swartwood, who earned ten points.

The Academy's record now sits at 8-10. As for Denver Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

Looking ahead, The Academy will face off against Stargate School at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Academy is facing Stargate School at the right time seeing as Stargate School is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Denver Christian, they will square off against Prospect Ridge Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
