Basketball Recap: Edison Comes Up Short

Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 48-40 to the Collinsville Cardinals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-40 last Friday.

Anna Appelberg was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards for Collinsville. Appelberg is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Reid, who posted eight points and ten boards.

Edison's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Collinsville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.

Edison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-36 defeat against Ponca City on the 13th. As for Collinsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-38 loss against Bethany on the 12th.
