Basketball Recap: Mesquite Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mesquite can now relate to. The contest between the Mesquite Wildcats and the Prescott Badgers didn't end well, with the Mesquite Wildcats falling 90-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Mesquite lost on Wednesday, don't look at Kobe Bradley. Despite the final result, he shot 78% from beyond the arc en route to 23 points. What's more, Bradley also posted a 73% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marcus Ward, who posted 14 points.

Prescott's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Uriah Tenette, who went 12-for-19 to rack up 31 points and eight assists. Tenette's big performance that evening made it 53 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Zane Gaul was another key player, shooting 62% from the field on his way to 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Mesquite dropped their record down to 11-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Prescott, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Mesquite does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Prescott, they have already played their next matchup, a 54-48 win against ALA - Gilbert North on the 28th.
