Friday just wasn't the day for Union Pines's offense. They came up short against the Southwest Guilford Cowboys on Friday, falling 3-0. That's two games in a row now that Union Pines have lost by exactly three goals.

Union Pines was without their leading scorer, Andrew Garcia, in Friday's matchup. With Garcia sidelined, Gage Sovey got his first action of the season.

Union Pines dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Southwest Guilford, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-2.

Union Pines will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pinecrest at 7:00 p.m. on September 3. As for Southwest Guilford, they have already played their next contest, a 1-0 defeat against Hoke County on the 23rd.
