Football Recap: Hillsboro Comes Up Short

Hillsboro extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took a blow against the Robinson Rockets, falling 70-22. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-16.

Although Hillsboro took the loss, they still got scores from Braylen Benson, Carson Barker, and Kaden Grim.

As for Robinson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Robinson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Moreno led the charge by rushing for 151 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Moreno has posted since back in October of 2024. Another signal caller making a difference was Brice McCurdy, who threw for 234 yards and three TDs.

Hillsboro and Robinson will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Eagles see the field they'll take on Venus at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Robinson, their break will end when they face Lorena at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
