Basketball Game Preview: Hawthorne Hornets vs. Williston Red Devils

Two dominant guards in Chasion Wilson and De'Andre Harvey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hawthorne Hornets will challenge the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hawthorne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.

Hawthorne is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Moore Haven 54-32. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Terriers are ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hawthorne's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Wilson, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Kelvin Baker, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points and six boards. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Ingram, who posted seven points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Williston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They breezed past the Wildcats to the tune of 75-40. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Hawthorne is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Williston, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.

Hawthorne came up short against Williston when the teams last played on Friday, falling 55-50. Can Hawthorne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
