Football Recap: Southwest EC Comes Up Short

Southwest EC played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Holtville Vikings, falling 54-6. The Eagles have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

It was another big night for Enrique Armas, who rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries for Holtville. Armas is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season.

Southwest EC's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Holtville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Southwest EC will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vincent Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Holtville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
