Basketball Recap: Coffee Find Success

It's playoff time, and Coffee had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 78-68 victory over the Northside Eagles on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Trojans have beaten the Eagles on their court since January 31, 2020.

Coffee found their leader in freshman Xavien Littleton, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Littleton has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andre Scruggs, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Coffee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Coffee's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Northside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.

Coffee has already played their next contest, a 60-53 victory against Lee County on the 12th. Northside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
