Basketball Recap: Jason Hernandez Key Part of Team Effort in Pirates Win + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Green River, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Grand County Red Devils by a score of 71-64 on Tuesday. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 76-65 victory the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Hernandez, who shot 75% from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. The game was Hernandez's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Rolando Anguiano, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 18 points along with five assists and five boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Green River was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Grand County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Mason, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Mason is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Nash Jones was another key player, shooting 44% from the field en route to 19 points and six rebounds.

Green River's record is now 3-1. As for Grand County, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Green River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 81-60 defeat against Bryce Valley on the 5th. As for Grand County, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-49 loss against Wayne on the 5th.
