The Nicholas County Bluejackets will venture away from home to take on the Fleming County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nicholas County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Nicholas County needed a bit of extra time to put away Bracken County. They had just enough and edged out the Polar Bears 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bluejackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Jayden Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four contests. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Nicholas County is undefeated when Robinson posts three or more RBI, but 14-18 otherwise.
In other batting news, Cash Linville was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Bentley Crump, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Fleming County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Bryan Station on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Defenders by a score of 4-3. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Fleming County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jett Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Preston Cropper was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The win snapped Nicholas County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-18 record. As for Fleming County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-15.
Nicholas County couldn't quite get it done against Fleming County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 5-1. Can the Bluejackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
