Basketball Recap: Murray Takes a Loss

Murray played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Woods Cross Wildcats, falling 74-51. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

When it comes to explaining why Murray lost, don't look at Roman Israyelyan. Despite the final result, he shot 41% from the field on his way to 19 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Beh, who posted ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Woods Cross had a senior duo take command as Bryson Watson went 11-for-15 to rack up 28 points and six boards and Elliot Bendinger shot 69% from the field en route to 24 points and six rebounds. Watson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Nate Smith-mecham was another key player, putting up four points and seven boards.

Murray is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points over those games. As for Woods Cross, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Murray will head out to take on Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woods Cross, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. on December 3.
