Baseball Recap: Male Extends Winning Streak to Three

11 must be Male's lucky number: they beat West Jessamine with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Bulldogs beat the Colts by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kellen Goodman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Male is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 12-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Cole Woodward was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Male's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 13-17 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was West Bickett, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory got Male back to even at 17-17. As for West Jessamine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-26 record this season.

Male will square off against Christian Academy-Louisville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Centurions have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for West Jessamine, they will challenge Tates Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
