Basketball Recap: White Mountain Drops Highest Score of Season Against Brevig Mission

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Mountain). Everything went their way against the Brevig Mission Huskies on Friday as the White Mountain Wolves made off with a 76-55 win. The Wolves pushed the score to 63-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies cut but never quite recovered from.

White Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lillian Lausten-Katongan, who went 11-for-17 to rack up 27 points. Thanks to that strong game, Lausten-Katongan now owns an excellent 41% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Lana Ashenfelter, who went 6-for-11 on her way to 17 points.

The win made it two in a row for White Mountain and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points over those games. As for Brevig Mission, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: White Mountain beat Brevig Mission by a score of 79-45 later that day.
