Mt. Blue took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Skowhegan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the River Hawks on Friday, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The win got Mt. Blue back to even at 3-3. As for Skowhegan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mt. Blue will face off against rival Camden Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Skowhegan is set to square off against their familiar foe Brewer at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the River Hawks 1.9, the Witches 0.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
