Preview: El Camino Eagles vs. Del Campo Cougars
The El Camino Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Del Campo Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. El Camino is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home.
El Camino suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Capital Christian 96-51. El Camino has not had much luck with Capital Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Defeat or not, El Camino got some senior leadership from Justin Watts and Donovin Rolph. Watts scored 12 points along with three blocks, while Rolph. scored 14 points along with two steals. Matt Martin was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Del Campo had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Vista del Lago with a 54-49 victory on Friday. The win was just what Del Campo needed coming off of a 76-51 defeat in their prior matchup.
Dino Hatzakos was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Javi Sidhu, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
El Camino has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Del Campo, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17.
El Camino beat Del Campo 60-51 in their previous meeting on January 5th. Will El Camino repeat their success, or does Del Campo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
