Softball Game Preview: Willard Crimson Flashes vs. Plymouth Big Red

The Willard Crimson Flashes will venture away from home to face off against the Plymouth Big Red at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Willard has given up an average of 15.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Willard came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-4 to Huron.

Natalie Slone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Steinmetz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Plymouth can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lucas 6-4.

Madison Montgomery made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Montgomery was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Montgomery wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cailynn Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Willard has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Plymouth, their record is now 4-6.
