Softball Game Preview: Agawam Brownies vs. Westfield Bombers

Agawam hasn't had much luck against Westfield recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Brownies will welcome the Bombers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Agawam is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Minnechaug Regional with a sharp 15-3 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Brownies in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Avery Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Agawam let Alexina Lentes and Payton Malanson run wild. Lentes scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Malanson went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lentes also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Sammie Eisenbeiser was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Agawam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Westfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pittsfield on Monday. The Bombers blew past the Generals 13-2. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Bombers this season.

Agawam now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Westfield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
