Football Game Preview: Brick Memorial Mustangs vs. Holmdel Hornets

The Brick Memorial Mustangs will head out to face off against the Holmdel Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Brick Memorial was just a hair shy of victory and fell 15-14 to Donovan Catholic. Despite 131 more yards than the Griffins, the Mustangs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Brick Memorial's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nazeer Whittaker, who gained 131 total yards and two touchdowns, and Jason Lajara, who threw for 130 yards and two TDs.

Meanwhile, Holmdel and Red Bank Catholic were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Holmdel suffered a 29-28 loss. The loss was the Hornets' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Holmdel fell to 3-1. As for Brick Memorial, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.
