Football Recap: Andre Lopez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Southwest EC + How To Watch

While Calexico put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Southwest EC. The Bulldogs blew past the Eagles 20-0. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Calexico got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Andre Lopez out in front who rushed for 136 yards and a pair of scores. Lopez's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Fernandez, who gained 129 total yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calexico was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest EC only rushed for ten rushing yards.

Calexico didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Adam Garcia, Carlos Delgado, and Fernando Gonzalez picked up one apiece.

Calexico's record now sits at 2-0. As for Southwest EC, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Calexico has already played their next match, a 48-0 victory against Somerton on the 5th. As for Southwest EC, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-6 defeat against Coastal Academy on the 5th.
