Softball Recap: Wadsworth Victorious

While Wadsworth's victory against Solon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Comets on Wednesday. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Lorene Bennett 2025 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Wadsworth's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Hostettler 2025, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Emily Gerber 2026 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Wadsworth's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Solon, they moved to 8-14 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Wadsworth will take on Olmsted Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Solon, they will head out to take on Streetsboro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
