Soccer Game Preview: Davie vs. Asheville

The Davie War Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Asheville Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Davie is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Monday, they were much more limited against R.J. Reynolds on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Demons. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Davie couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Lanna Robinson, who's now up to 21 this season.

Meanwhile, Asheville waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Jets get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Give Asheville's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Asheville's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Peyton Case got a bit more time on the pitch (70 vs. her season average of 45). Case made the most of the opportunity, scoring three goals A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Asheville pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for Davie, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5-3.
