Softball Recap: Steilacoom Takes a Loss

If Steilacoom was riding high fresh off their 31-5 takedown of Clover Park last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sentinels came up short against the Fife Trojans on Tuesday, falling 20-6. The Sentinels were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Abigail Butterfield was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Lingenfelter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Steilacoom's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Fife, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Steilacoom will be playing at home against Franklin Pierce at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Sentinels surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fife, they will square off against Orting at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
