Softball Game Preview: Trinity Blazers vs. Aurora Central Catholic Chargers

Trinity hasn't had much luck against Aurora Central Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blazers will look to defend their home field against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Two weeks ago, Trinity came up short against ITW David Speer Academy and fell 15-10.

Trinity got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Miehlich, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Abby Young was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, while Aurora Central Catholic put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Saint Ignatius College Prep. The Chargers put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 12-0 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.

Charlotte Brummel was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madalyn Torrance was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Morgan Vaghy, who scored a run and stole a base.

The victory made it two in a row for Aurora Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Trinity couldn't quite finish off Aurora Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Blazers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
