Basketball Recap: River View Black Bears vs. John Glenn Little Muskies
River View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the John Glenn Little Muskies, falling 90-58. While losing is never fun, the Black Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while the Little Muskies are ranked 41st).
Despite the loss, River View still got an impressive performance from Layton Massie, who went 8 for 16 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Massie continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Andrews, who posted 15 points and five boards.
Brayden Davis was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds for John Glenn. Those 29 points gave Davis a new career-high. Stehl Bates was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points along with seven assists and three steals.
River View's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for John Glenn, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
River View will square off against Philo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Philo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for John Glenn, they will take on Morgan at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. John Glenn is facing Morgan at the right time seeing as Morgan is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
