Softball Game Preview: Naples Golden Eagles vs. Fort Myers Green Wave

Naples hasn't had much luck against Fort Myers recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Naples will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. Naples has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Naples is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They fell 18-14 to Estero. Golden Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Friday.

Naples got a good showing from Elle Gant, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Gant has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Mary Mcmullin was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Cassie Kramer was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Naples lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fort Myers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 13-1 to Vanguard.

Fort Myers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daciana Harvey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Harvey has posted since back in April of 2024. Sutton Bohannon also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Fort Myers' defeat dropped their record down to 11-5-1. As for Naples, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
