Softball Game Preview: PikeView Panthers vs. Shady Spring Tigers

PikeView is 2-7 against Shady Spring since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. PikeView is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

PikeView easily dispatched Montcalm on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Panthers fell just short of James Monroe by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since March 28th.

Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered nine runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bella Delida was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Emma Compton was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Shady Spring posted their closest victory since April 30, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Liberty 6-4.

Kenidi Creager was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Peyton Raban, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Shady Spring's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for PikeView, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
