Softball Recap: Coalfield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oliver Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coalfield). They were the clear victors by a 17-11 margin over the Oliver Springs Bobcats on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Ashton Chamblee, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Baylee Chadwick, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Coalfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Coalfield's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Oliver Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
