Volleyball Recap: Shell Lake Lakers vs. Spooner Rails

Shell Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Spooner Rails. The Lakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rails apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Shell Lake was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23.

Quinn Schenkenberg paced Shell Lake's offense, picking up five kills. Schenkenberg got some help from Ella Marker and her seven assists. Grace Naessen controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Shell Lake's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Spooner, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-8 record.

Coming up, Shell Lake will take on Northwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spooner, they will face off against Barron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
