Volleyball Recap: Hilton Head Island Takes a Loss

Hilton Head Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the May River Sharks. The Seahawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Hilton Head Island started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-15, 25-8, 25-22.

Hilton Head Island's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for May River, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Hilton Head Island will square off against rival Colleton County at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, May River is set to challenge their familiar foe Beaufort at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
