Pacific Baptist picks up fifth straight win at home

The Pacific Baptist Patriots had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They managed a 69-63 win over Newport Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Pacific Baptist found their leader in underclassman Kevin Ullrich, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ullrich has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gary Bird, who scored 14 points.

Pacific Baptist's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Newport Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Pacific Baptist will play host again and welcome the Swordsmen, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newport Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
